Under the Walnut Trees

It’s a lifetime ago

Under the walnut trees.

We walked silently in this late summer afternoon,

Side by side, hands not touching anymore.

The grace that had been had already faded,

As the last rays of light shone through the branches

Of those old walnut trees.

Farewell, my friend, farewell for now.

It’s a lifetime ago

Under the walnut trees.

This was goodbye and we knew it.

Side by side for the last time,

Our souls beating hard within our hearts,

As the magic had already vanished,

All it had left were memories

And even those were already tarnished.

Farewell, my friend, farewell for now.

It’s a lifetime ago

We saw those walnut trees.

The wind was our friend as it took away our words

With a gentle breeze gliding between us.

We parted as friends that day,

Promised to always be

Despite the fights and pain

We thought we’d meet again

Under those walnut trees,

A lifetime ago.
